Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

Unicode scalar value

The number Unicode gives one character.

A Unicode scalar value is any code point except surrogates (0..=0x10FFFF minus 0xD800..=0xDFFF); a char is exactly one.

Examples

  • 'é' as u32 is 233, and char::from_u32(0xD800) is None because surrogate code points are not scalar values.
