ABI
The rulebook that lets separately built machine code work together on one platform - which register carries what, how the stack is used, how big each type is. RISC-V's "ABI names" come from it.
An application binary interface fixes, for one instruction set and operating system, the calling convention, register roles, stack layout and alignment, type sizes and layouts, and symbol naming, so that independently compiled object files and libraries interoperate.
