page walk
Looking an address up through every level of the page table tree, one memory read per level, to find where the page really is.
A page walk is the sequence of dependent loads, one per page-table level, that resolves a translation after a TLB miss; on x86-64, ARM64 and RISC-V it is performed by a hardware walker, with paging-structure caches shortening it.
