audit log

A permanent record of who did what and when, such as who sent a command.

An audit log is an append-only record of security- and operations-relevant actions, with actor, action, target, time and outcome.

Examples

  • When oscar sends "heater on" to gh-c3, the audit log records who asked, the command, the device, the time and each outcome: requested, confirmed, sent, or expired.
