compensating command
Undoing a command by sending a new command that reverses it, rather than pretending the first never happened.
A compensating command reverses the effect of an earlier command as a new, separately audited action; the original remains in the record, because a device's physical effect can't be rolled back like a database row.
Examples
Four minutes after a mistaken "heater on" to
gh-c3, the only undo is a new "heater off" command, logged as an undo of the first.
