bricked
A device with no program it can boot and no way to fix it remotely.
A device is bricked when no bootable image remains and recovery needs physical access, such as a serial re-flash.
Examples
If a power cut stops a write over the only copy of a fan controller's firmware, the device is bricked until someone climbs up to it with a cable.
Writing the new image into the spare slot, never over the running one, keeps a dropped Wi-Fi link at 60 % from bricking a device.
