duty-cycle limit
A legal cap on how much of the time a device may transmit in some radio bands.
In some regions (for example 868 MHz in Europe) regulations cap transmit airtime at a percentage per sub-band, such as 1%, which bounds how often a LoRa device can send.
Examples
Under Europe's 1% limit, a 61.7 ms LoRaWAN packet at SF7 must be followed by 99 times as much silence, about 6.1 s.
At SF12 the same 1% budget allows only about 24 uplinks an hour.
