linter

A tool that reads code and reports patterns that are often bugs.

A linter (Clippy, Ruff, ESLint, cppcheck, clang-tidy) statically analyses source for suspicious or unmaintainable patterns and reports them.

Examples

  • The greenhouse runs Clippy on the Rust firmware, ruff check on the back end and ESLint on the dashboard to report likely bugs.

  • cppcheck or clang-tidy plays the linter role for the C++ firmware in CI.
