protocol translation
A gateway turning one protocol into another, such as BLE readings into MQTT messages.
Protocol translation converts messages between protocols with different framing, addressing or semantics, typically at a gateway between a local network and a back end.
Examples
The greenhouse gateway decodes a BLE soil probe's notification bytes
0x00 0x00 0xFC 0x41, adds a timestamp and version, and publishes{"v": 1, "ts": 1792656000, "soil_pct": 31.5}togh1/soil-03/telemetry/soil.
