Free public beta until December 4, 2026: every course is open, no card needed. After that, the first chapter of each course stays free and full access is a one-time $39 ($19 for up to 100 founding members chosen for helpful feedback). Your progress is kept. How the beta works

subnet mask

The same thing as a prefix length, written as an address like 255.255.255.0.

A subnet mask writes the prefix as 32 bits, ones for the network part and zeros for the host part, in dotted form (/24 = 255.255.255.0).

Examples

  • The sensor's /24 prefix is written as the mask 255.255.255.0: 24 one-bits then 8 zero-bits.

  • A /26 prefix has the mask 255.255.255.192.
