Zigbee

An older low-power mesh standard for smart-home and building devices.

Zigbee is a mesh protocol over 802.15.4 with a coordinator, routers and end devices and an application layer of clusters; it is not IP-based and needs a gateway to reach IP networks.

Examples

  • Zigbee2MQTT publishes a Zigbee sensor named bench_sensor on zigbee2mqtt/bench_sensor as JSON with temperature 21.53.

  • Publishing {"state": "ON"} to zigbee2mqtt/fan_plug/set switches a Zigbee plug.
