connective

A word or symbol that builds a sentence from other sentences.

A connective combines one or more sentences into a new sentence. Sentential logic has five: negation ("not"), conjunction ("and"), disjunction ("or"), the conditional ("if … then"), and the biconditional ("if and only if").

Examples

  • "And" is a connective in "It's cold and it's windy."
