nonlinear differential equation

An equation where y or a derivative is squared, multiplied by another copy of itself, or fed through a nonlinear function.

A differential equation that is not linear -- y or one of its derivatives appears raised to a power other than 1, multiplied by another copy of y/a derivative, or inside a nonlinear function.

Examples

  • y' = y^2 - x is nonlinear.
