hold time
How long a rule's condition must stay true before the rule acts, so a brief blip doesn't trigger it.
A rule's hold time is the duration its condition must hold continuously before the action fires -- a debounce in time that suppresses alerts on transient readings.
Examples
The too-hot rule only acts if a bench has stayed above 32 °C for five minutes straight, so a reading wobbling around 32 doesn't switch the alert on and off every few seconds.
