staged rollout
Sending a change to a few devices first and only to the rest if those stay healthy.
A staged rollout applies a configuration or firmware change to successively larger groups, checking health metrics at each stage and stopping or rolling back on failure.
Examples
Changing
report_sfrom 60 to 5 goes to 4 canary nodes, then a 10 % stage, then the rest; when canary resets rose from 0 to 3, the rollout stopped.
