time-series database

A database built for storing and querying readings ordered by time.

A time-series database stores points partitioned by time and series, compresses them, and offers windowed aggregation and retention policies as built-in operations.

Examples

  • A time-series database stores greenhouse readings by device and time, so "gh-a1 between 10:00 and 11:00" is a fast range lookup rather than a scan of every row.
