boundary condition
A constraint the solution (or its derivative) must satisfy at the edge of the spatial region.
A boundary condition specifies the value of u, a derivative of u, or some combination of the two, on the boundary of the spatial region a PDE is solved over -- distinct from an initial condition, which constrains u at a starting time instead.
