device registry

The back end's list of every device it knows, with its identity and status.

A device registry stores each device's identity, credentials or certificate fingerprint, metadata and lifecycle state, and is consulted when the device connects.

Examples

  • When gh-a1… connects, the broker checks its credential and then its registry record; a record marked retired, or no record at all, means the connection is refused.
